Alligator Reproduction

Alligators lay about 40-45 eggs on the average. The incubation period is 65 days. Baby alligators are called hatchlings. The hatchling uses its 'egg tooth' to break the shell. The young alligators are about 6-8 inches at birth. Young alligators stay with their mother for about 1.5 years.
