The ferret (Mustela putorius furo) is a domestic pet. Ferrets are members of the Mustelidae family. This family also includes weasels, stoats, polecats, mink, badgers, and otters. Domestic ferrets have white, brown, black, or mixed fur. Males are typically twice the size of females. The average weight for a male ferret is 3-5 lbs. Ferrets are great pets. They are intelligent, curious, affectionate, have lots of energy, and act like kittens that never grow up.
