Giraffe Information

The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is the tallest of the land animals. It is up to 19 feet (6 m) tall and weighs up to 2,800 pounds (1270 kg). Giraffes have very long legs and a long neck. Both male and female giraffes have a spotted coat (cream background with borders of gold to orange and brown to black patches).

The giraffe is found in Africa and inhabits grasslands, wooded savannas and open woodlands. Giraffe populations are relatively stable, but they are hunted for for their meat, coat and tails.
