Opossum Information

The opossum is the only marsupial found in North America. It is one of the world’s oldest surviving mammals, and quite often referred as "the living fossil". The opossum is commonly also called "possum". It has a pointed face and large ears. An adult opossum is about the same size as a house cat, but has much shorter legs. Opossums are highly resistant to diseases and snake venom. Unfortunately, opossums are short-lived and have a high mortality rate.
