Panda Bear Information

The Giant Panda is a mammal classified in the bear family, Ursidae, native to central-western and southwestern China. Giant pandas live in broadleaf and coniferous forests and are known for their thick black and white fur and patched eyes. Males are larger than females, weighing up to 250 pounds in the wild.

The giant panda is listed as an endangered species. There are as few as 1,600 pandas left in the wild. It is also an animal associated with wildlife conservation.
