Polar Bear Information

Polar bears are the world's largest land carnivore. An adult male weighs 300600 kg (6601320 lb), while an adult female is about half that size. Polar bears evolved from brown bears are specially adapted to the polar marine environment from Antarctica. Polar bears have small head, extremely powerful claws, translucent fur and black nose.

The polar bear is classified as a vulnerable species. Global warming could already be having a negative impact on polar bears.
