Swan Behavior

Swans are intelligent and powerful birds. They will only bite if they feel threatened. Swans gather in flocks and usually mate for life. They are also migratory birds and may migrate more than 1,000 miles. Swans communicate by sounds and body language. These birds are very vocal. They are also good swimmers. Swans eat aquatic vegetation, tiny fish, tadpoles and insects. Mute swans are the most territorial of the swans and have keen senses of vision and hearing. Swans spend a lot of time preening their feathers.
